What is Pilates?

"Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness." - Joseph H. Pilates

Pilates integrates fluidity of movement, control, precision, breathing, coordination and concentration.

The Pilates Method develops core strength through a series of exercises created by Joseph H. Pilates. Integrating many physical disciplines, he created this revolutionary method to enhance overall physical performance while creating a strong and toned body shape.

Combining mat work and spring-based machines, the repertoire emphasizes awakening and strengthening the body's postural & abdominal muscles (core), while increasing overall flexibility. Results include a strong and long back, toned abdomen, open shoulders and a balanced body. For decades, athletes and dancers have used Pilates to enhance performance and rehabilitate from their injuries. The fitness and health-based communities also recognize and acknowledge the numerous health benefits of regular Pilates practice.
